Aural Tuning Workshop | 2023 Priority Enrollment
Class Description
The Aural Tuning Workshop is intended for professional piano technicians who want to master the art of aural piano tuning–a.k.a. piano tuning without the use of an electronic tuning device (ETD). If you’ve been looking for the moment to drop the ETD and take the leap into aural tuning, this class is for you! Our 30:30 Aural Tuning Method™ is specifically designed to empower ETD tuners to quickly produce stable and consistent tunings by ear.
In this 5-day workshop, students will begin to develop an intuitive feeling for the complete process of tuning by ear. From what tools to use, to which strings to mute, to exactly how to create a temperament, the 30:30 Method provides a foundation for success that can be relied upon long after participants return to their daily work. During the week, participants will tune upwards of 20 pianos by ear and will receive the guidance, feedback, and hands-on practice required to make a successful transition to tuning exclusively by ear.
